How Do I Get My Licence?

Getting Your Learner License
When getting your license in Queensland, under QLD law you must be over the age of 16 and pass the test provided by the state government.
To get your license you must successfully complete PrepL or the written test.
HOW TO APPLY:
Using PrepL is really easy. All you have to do is create an account – click on the PrepL icon on the left. Once you have an account, just follow the prompts to complete your online test. Once you have passed the test, you can go into any Transport and Main Roads with your I.D to collect your learner license.
PRACTICE YOUR TEST:

WRITTEN TEST:
When you are ready to sit the written test, you can apply at any Department of Transport and Main Roads customer service centre. You will need to bring:
– A completed driver licence application form
– Identification
– The written test fee and licence fee
If you are under 25 and pass the written test you will receive a logbook to record all your driving lessons. You can also download and use the learner logbook app to record your hours. Click the links below to download the logbook app. You are now officially on the road to getting your license.
During the course of getting your license, you must record 100 hours of supervised driving, this includes 10 hours of night driving. Night driving is between sunset and sunrise
All driving lessons must be supervised by a valid open licence holder, the license must be the same class as the one you are learning. They also must have held a valid licence for at least a year.

GETTING YOUR P’s
– You can go for your practical test when you turn 17
– You have completed 100 hours of supervised driving, this includes 10 hours of night driving
– You have sent off your logbook or taken it in to the Department of Transport
– You have booked an appointment with the Department of Transport
Submitting Your Logbook Or App
When you have completed 100 hours, you have to submit your logbook or app to the Department of Transport to be calculated and approved.
Booking Your Practical Test
When Can I Book It?
Before You take the practical test you must be 17 years of age.
You have completed the 100 hours required in your logbook/app.
Your logbook has been sent off to the Department of Transport.
Your logbook has been received and approved by the Department of Transport.
Submit With The App
Submitting your app is simple. Once you have completed the 100 hours, click the SUBMIT button that appears

– Hand it in at any post office
How Long Does It Take?
Allow up to 12 working days for the Department of Transport to receive your logbook/app and calculate your hours. Once complete the Department of Transport will send you an email with the status of your application.
If for some reason your application was not approved, the email will contain what must be corrected for approval.
